The 2016 Cadillac ATS-V coupe and sedan were officially unveiled at the 2014 Los Angeles auto show today, and now the automaker has revealed official power numbers. In the 2016 ATS-V, the twin-turbo 3.6-liter LF4 V-6 makes 455 hp and 445 lb-ft of torque. That’s 35 hp and 15 lb-ft more than the twin-turbo 3.6-liter LF3 V-6 in the Cadillac CTS Vsport.

The LF4 engine gets new lightweight, low-inertia titanium-aluminide turbines for the turbochargers, lightweight titanium connecting rods, and a more efficient charge-air cooler. Compared to conventional Inconel turbine wheels, the titanium-aluminide turbines reduce inertial load by 51 percent for quicker spool up. Cadillac says 90 percent of peak torque is available from 2400 to 6000 rpm. Peak boost is 18 psi. The oiling system has been optimized to meet the oil pressure and ventilation demands of on-track driving, while peak efficiency for the turbochargers’ compressors is matched to the engine’s peak power levels.

Transmission choices include a Tremec TR6060 six-speed manual with Active Rev Match, No-Lift Shifting, and Launch Control; and GM’s new Hydra-Matic 8L90 eight-speed paddle-shift automatic transmission with auto launch control and Performance Algorithm Shift. The eight- speed is said to shift faster than the Porsche 911’s PDK dual-clutch transmission. The 2016 Cadillac ATS-V with eight-speed auto can reach 60 mph in 3.9 seconds, according to the automaker. Top speed is said to be “more than 185 mph.”

Powertrain heat is kept to favorable levels by six heat exchangers and a multitude of intakes and vents. The front grille mesh allows 50 percent more airflow than the standard ATS, while new hood and fender vents extract underhood heat. Available track aerodynamics increase downforce. Although curb weight wasn’t revealed, the 2016 ATS-V has a 51:49 weight distribution.

A set of Brembo brakes brings the 2016 ATS-V to a stop. The front brakes consist of 14.5-inch rotors and six-piston calipers, while 13.3-inch rotors and four-piston calipers are found in the rear. The front suspension has been updated with a larger front anti-roll bar (27 mm versus 25 mm) and new zero-compliance cross-axis ball joints. Around back, the rear suspension features stiffer bushings, new cradle mounts, higher-rate springs, and a stiffer anti-roll bar. The steering system has also been revised. The chassis has been stiffened by new strut tower and underbody braces.

The 2015 Cadillac ATS-V rides on a set of 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires. Front wheels measure 9.0 inches wide up front and 9.5 inches out back and are wrapped in 255/35R18 front and 2755/35R18 rear, respectively.
